Pregnancy and Acne

Many women suffer from acne during their pregnancies. Higher levels of hormones called androgens can inspire the sebaceous glands in your skin to get bigger and boost production of an oily substance called sebum. This extra sebum, mixed with the shed skin cells which line your hair follicles, blocks your pores, creating an environment in which bacteria can rapidly multiply.

Hormonal changes during early pregnancy often result in acne inflammations. Even if you have been blessed with clear skin all your life, you may experience terrible acne during your first trimester.

The women during pregnancy should perform the exercises daily as it will increase the blood circulation, balance all types of skin, helps in the toning and makes the skin healthy. Exercise also reduces one of the causes of acne that is stress.

A healthy plan should be followed about the cleanliness to control the bacteria and plenty of fruits and vegetables should be eaten which should be thoroughly washed.

Acne Medication - Accutane is available in the form of pills or tablets and considered to be a best medication which can be taken orally to treat the acne. It is also known as Isotretinoin

Retina-A is a prescription topic treatment that chemically is known as tretinoin. Although not many women have presented serious health problems, some miscarriages have been attributed to this medication, so a consult with a physician is entitled before applying this lotion.

Tetracycline is an oral antibiotic; it is most commonly used to treat acne and respiratory infections. It has been known to cause bone growth inhibition and staining of teeth in a fetus and child. So, it can not be taken without the proper prescription. If you are pregnant, always let your doctor know before taking any kind of medication

While pregnant, the skin can also dry out more than normal so drying  treatments such as benzoyl peroxide cream or gel may be too harsh. It’s better  to use products that are natural in origin. Tea tree oil is safe to use on spots  and blemishes. An every day facial wash, such as the essential facial wash is  mild enough to be used on skin during pregnancy. If you have blackheads and oily  skin, clay masks are fantastic for absorbing oils and blocked pores - try kaolin  and bentonite clay. Remember to drink plenty of water and eat lots of fruit  and vegetables - beneficial for your skin and the developing baby!
