How to Get Rid of Acne

Acne is a common problem faced by almost all teen-agers and youth. What is acne and why do we get them. Acne is actually caused because of hormone imbalance. Your skin breaks out because of a hormone called testosterone. Both men and women have testosterone in their systems. In fact, did you know that in order to make testosterone, boys bodies have to make female hormones first? If you have acne, you haven’t got abnormal levels of testosterone. You’ve got skin that reacts abnormally to this hormone. You start producing testosterone around the time you start sprouting body hair. Testosterone tells glands in your skin, called sebaceous glands, to produce oily stuff called sebum. To add to the problem the inside of the tubes that hold each hair become gummy and get partially blocked - giving you blackheads. Put together if sebum blocks the tubes — you have big acne.

Stop popping the spots, also known as pimples and zits. This will only risk encouraging your acne to stay due to inflammation, irritation, and possibly infection producing even more spots. If you do pop a spot then clean it with spirit in order to keep prevent it from infection. If a pimple comes up in a particularly bothersome place, learn how to target a single pimple. And if you’re determined to pop, learn how to pop a pimple safely and properly.

Remove any make-up you have on. Wearing make up clogs pores which makes them dirty and causes spots.

Use a mild soap for sensitive skin but it doesn’t matter exactly what type of soap you use. It can be designed for acne-prone skin or not, but you will want to treat your skin gently. You do not need harsh antibacterial soap, which can actually make your acne worse but not necessarily.

If you must pop a pimple yourself, apply a hot, wet compress until it becomes a whitehead, sterilize a needle in flame or alchohol and then carefully lance it. Squeeze it gently to drain and wash both your hands and the area of the pimple afterwards.

Try changing your bath soap - many people have reported success with Ivory’s “Sensitive Skin” product.

Switch to a makeup that is not oil based. The oils can irritate your skin and clog your pores.

To get rid of acne without leaving scars on your face, popping these zits should be avoided. This may just cause further inflammation and later on might leave scars lying on your treasured face. However, if popping those pimples is the only way out, before resorting to that alternative, you should make sure that you know the proper way of doing it.

Try not to touch your face. Your hands aren’t sanitized twenty-four hours a day, and when you touch your face, you are transferring any dirt and germs that your hands have collected throughout the day right onto your facial skin. Never ever pick at your zits, and don’t pop pimples either. If you sleep on your stomach or side, laying your face on your pillow, it is very important that you clean your pillow and pillow case at least once a week. The dirt, germs, and bacteria that collect on your pillow and pillowcase can wreak havoc on your complexion.

THE MONTHLY CURSE… OR EXAMS

Acne does tend to get worse just before a period. It’s because there is a surge in hormone levels at this time. But boys don’t get away lightly either. Being hot and sweaty (particularly after sports like football) makes acne worse. And for everyone, stress - particularly at exam times - is a cue for a mega breakout. This is normal - and of course, even more reason for feeling stressed. Go chill.
