Acne scars develop as soon as you pop pimple or squeeze it out. Popping or squeezing results in a permanent mark at the affected area. The deeper you have peeled the skin, the darker is the mark. Most of the times this action leaves a scar and it gets very difficult to get rid off this scar.
Acne scarring can cause devastating long term psychic trauma for the sufferer and it has been suggested that such scarring may be a risk factor for suicide, particularly in men.10 As current treatments for acne are very effective, scarring could be avoided in many cases by adequate medical intervention early in the course of the disease. Successful treatment of cystic acne with isotretinoin appears to reduce anxiety and depression in patients.11 Anti-androgen hormonal treatments such as cyproterone acetate and spironolactone, topical preparations such as adapalene, azelaic acid, topical antibiotics and retinoic acid may help to replace or augment long term antibiotic therapy, ensuring a sufficient armamentarium to keep the incidence of acne scarring to a minimum.
Laser therapy
Fractional laser resurfacing is a procedure which wounds the skin using microscopic pulses of light. Over the course of several treatments scars are softened as the body regenerates the areas of microthermal wounding. Several lasers are now on the market such as the Affirm Laser, Fraxel Laser, Pixel Laser, and Sciton Profractional. Laser resurfacing is a technique used during laser surgery wherein molecular bonds of a material are dissolved by a laser. CO2 or erbium energy is used to treat the areas of discoloration closer to the surface and also penetrates deep into the dermis, eliminating damaged cells and stimulating the growth of new collagen. Collagen is stimulated for up to 4 months and this new collagen regeneration lifts and supports the skin’s surface. The generation of the new skin cells in combination with collagen stimulation will dramatically improve the appearance of acne scars. Depending on the depth of the scars, some patients may require anywhere from 1 to 3 treatments for acne scar removal.
Steam: take a steam from boiled water with your head covered with towel, it help in opening the pores. Do it twice a week. Remember to rinse your face with cold water after that. Egg yolk: apply egg yolk with a cotton ball and leave it for 15 mins. Paste of oatmeal and honey is also good as oatmeal soaks up excess oil ad honey soothens the skin. Bitter Gourd: peels of bitter gourd and cucumber remove pimples and reduce acne and black heads. Rub it gently on your face once a day for nearly 3-5 days.
The process is generally for patients showing the early signs of aging and other imperfections, such as acne scarring. The process is non-invasive and non-wounding to the skin’s surface. The procedure is generally pain free, and patients’ generally only experience redness to the skin for an hour after the procedure.
Exfoliate every 2-3 days. Do not use harsh chemical exfoliants like salycic acid to exfoliate your skin. These formulas tend to irritate the skin causing it to look more inflammed than it normally would. I found the best method to be GENTLE manual exfoliation. The most effective & economical is wither sand or cornmeal. I prefer cornmeal because it’s much cleaner! Mix this with some liquid soap (like Dr. Bronner’s liquid castille soap) and some water. Prepare a little a time, to make it easier to handle. Apply the scrub to your skin in a soft circular motion. Don’t work on any one area too long. Remember, you do not want to irritate your skin.
