Acne in pregnancy is very common, whether you have previously had acne or not. If you are planning to get pregnant, it is important to discuss your acne treatments with your doctor. Many of these can harm the unborn baby. Women have complained of acne appearing mainly on the face, chest and back areas. Occurrence can be different in every woman, and while some will have moderate to severe outbreaks others will not be conflicted with acne during pregnancy at all. Many women suffer from acne during their pregnancies. Higher levels of hormones called androgens can inspire the sebaceous glands in your skin to get bigger and boost production of an oily substance called sebum. This extra sebum, mixed with the shed skin cells which line your hair follicles, blocks your pores, creating an environment in which bacteria can rapidly multiply.

Hormonal changes during early pregnancy often result in acne inflammations. Even if you have been blessed with clear skin all your life, you may experience terrible acne during your first trimester.
